Casting Process
Here the waxes that will be cast are set into flask for casting. This contraption called a Debubblizer [seriously, Google it] sucks all the air out of the investment to remove air pockets. After the investment dries it is put into the kiln to bake and remove any wax residue.
Melting gold bars into shot for casting, listen for the cool sounds!
In this video we are using our centrifuge caster, shooting the metal into the investment that had the mold of the wax inside. It has been wound up putting tension on a spring. After the metal is molten a pin is released and the force shoots the metal into the mold and voila, the piece is made in its rough form! The clean red button shows it was a good shot. Now it cools briefly and is submerged in cold water, which dissolves the hot investment and reveals the piece inside!
